Membership Benefits

  • Educational programs geared toward owners, executives and senior management of fastener distribution and supply companies.
  • Business Owners Forum and Business Executives Forum: a facilitated discussion of topics of current interest to fastener business owners and executives. Always the highest rated program at any WAFD conference, this is an opportunity to share problems and solutions.
  • Monthly telephone seminars on sales skills.
  • Legislative updates on issues that affect fastener distribution.
  • Virtual membership roster, with directory listings for your key personnel and company descriptions and links to your own company web sites.
  • Annual computer software guide, focusing on software for distributors.
  • Representation in the Fastener Industry Coalition, an organization comprised of regional and national fastener associations in the U.S.
  • Membership in the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors, which gives your company NAW membership benefits at no additional cost to you.
  • Regular surveys of business information and trends, including an annual year-end review of financial performance. Sample topics include: compensation for inside sales, outside sales, and warehouse; diversified product lines; value-added services; retirement plans.
  • Active participation in the association by fastener industry leaders.
  • A high ratio of distributors to suppliers in attendance at association meetings.
  • A lending library of fastener industry and general business related video tapes, audio tapes and printed materials.

 

Regular Membership Requirements

  • Must have an inventory of mechanical fasteners located within the western region (Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and western Canada) of at least $100,000.00.
  • Fastener supplier companies that have annual sales of at least $5 million to distributors in the western U.S. or Canada may apply even if they do not have a physical location in the west.
  • At least fifty percent of the company's total sales must be fastener oriented.
  • Must have been in business continuously for at least two years immediately prior to submission of an application for membership.
  • Must have letters of recommendation from three member companies.

Associate Membership Requirements

  • Any business that supplies non-fastener products and services to the fastener industry is eligible to become an associate member.
  • Must have a place of business/branch in the western United States or Canada OR at least 50% of the company’s annual sales must be to the fastener industry. 
  • Must have been in business continuously for at least two years immediately prior to submission of an application for membership.
  • Must have letters of recommendation from four member companies (two from distributor members and two from supplier members).
  • Will be limited to 10% of the total membership.

Dues

  • Annual dues are $550 per year (January - December).
  • If your membership application is approved July-December, dues are prorated to $275 for the rest of the year.
  • Initiation fee for new members is $200.
  • We will send you an invoice for your dues and initiation fee when your application is approved.
